    Wayzata Country Clubis now accepting applications for the position of Lead Assistant Superintendent. Wayzata Country Club is a premier, family oriented, private membership club located on the west side of the Twin Cities. Wayzata provides our Members & Guests with championship golf, a large practice facility and short course, excellent dining and a variety of recreational year-round activities including, swimming, tennis, trap & skeet, ice skating, and paddle ball.  Wayzata Country Club opened for play in 1956 as a Robert Bruce Harris design that was last updated in 2008 by golf course architect John Fought, bringing new tees, bunkers, a short course and practice facility to the property.  Mr. Fought has recently been retained by Wayzata CC to create an updated Master Plan that will comprise a number of smaller updates to the golf course and practice areas. A new maintenance facility is scheduled to begin construction in the fall of 2019 and an irrigation system update in 2021. 


    Applicants should have completed either 2 or 4 year turf education with a minimum of 5 years of practical golf course experience with 3 of these years being in some sort of supervisory capacity. Ability to multitask and lead a large seasonal staff along with providing guidance for full time AITs as well as interns is essential. Individuals should be organized, highly self motivated and team oriented. Proficiency in irrigation repair, maintenance and scheduling along with all types of pesticide applications is expected. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, will be a huge asset. Play and understand the game of golf. 

    Typical Functions and Responsibilities:

    •  Directly supervise seasonal staff of 25+, including training, scheduling, work assignments and equipment distribution
    • Assist the Golf Course Superintendent in the day-to-day operations, management and maintenance of all facility operations
    •  Maintain the Club’s Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary status
    • Assist with the development of annual maintenance budget and rolling capital plan
    • Work with the Superintendent to ensure that the annual golf course maintenance budget and capital plans are developed and followed
    • Must possess, or have ability to obtain, a MDA pesticide applicators license within 60 days of employment
    • Observe, recognize and communicate golf course conditions
    • Ability to learn basic equipment maintenance and repair 
    • Assist with a variety of winter tasks, including snow removal
    • Reading, understanding, and keeping current product labels and MSDS
    • Keep accurate and detailed records
    • Be on call at all times for emergencies
    •  Work an average of 50-55 hours/week during the summer months along with every other weekend
    •  Willing and able to work longer hours as necessary
    • Communicate closely with golf shop staff, General Manager and other Club department heads
    •  Interact with Wayzata Country Club Membership


    • Annual salary - $50,000+ with potential for onsite housing as part of a compensation package
