Description
NOTE: This is an Annual 9 Month Position (March 1st - November 30th)
Approximately 35-40 hours per week. Non-benefit earning position.
Work schedule varies based on course conditions, weather and needs of the Golf Course. Hours may include mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:
Serve as Spray Technician at Green Haven Golf Course; responsible for the safe and accurate application of fertilizers, fungicides, insecticides and herbicides to maintain the health and appearance of the golf course and landscape areas. Assist in performing skilled golf course maintenance tasks, record keeping and ensuring compliance regulations are followed, irrigation repairs, general golf course maintenance, seasonal staff training and supervision, daily course set-up, operating all related golf courses equipment, calibration of spreaders and sprayers, and any other duties that may be assigned.
Summary of Duties
POSITION EXPECTATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
1. Basic ability to operate all golf course related equipment.
2. Must work scheduled hours, overtime, weekends and holidays, as required.
3. Effective communication with supervisors and coworkers.
4. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
5. Must wear safety equipment as required and follow established safety practices and procedures.
6. Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
7. Creates a favorable image of the City in contacts with the Public, Elected Officials and other Organizations.
8. Must exercise initiative, strong attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, discretion and independent use of judgement over matters of non-significance.
9. Keeps Supervisor or other designee informed of any development, which he/she will need to know to function effectively.
10. Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as apparent and/or as assigned by the Supervisor, or another designated individual.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR WORK OF OTHERS:
Provide work direction and/or training to seasonal employees as directed.
Qualifications/Prerequisites
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE PREREQUISITE(S):
1. High School Diploma or GED; Associates/Technical degree preferred.
2. Two years of golf course maintenance experience.
3. Minnesota Non-Commercial A & E Pesticide Applicators License, or ability to obtain within 60-days of hire.
OTHER PREREQUISITES:
1. Specific Qualifiers/Tests:
- Must possess a valid and unrestricted driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
- Pre-employment drug screen prior to starting employment.
- Able to meet standard background/criminal check.
2. Physical Requirement(s):
- Ability to perform demanding outdoor work in various weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds, with or without special accommodation.
3. Job Performance and Attendance Record in current/most recent job:
- Met standard performance rating.
- Met standard attendance record.

1. Has an Associates/Technical Degree or am working towards a degree.
2. Employment experience applying pesticides and fertilizers.
