    Equipment/Shop Manager

    Somerset Country Club is seeking a highly motivated, organized, team-oriented and skilled Equipment Manager to oversee the maintenance, repair, and management of all golf course equipment and shop operations. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the equipment fleet performs to the level of golf course conditioning desired. This position is being filled as our current Equipment Manager is retiring.

    Somerset is currently reinventing its operation, equipment fleet, shop setup, and course conditioning. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual to grow and build a quality program that is aimed at achieving high results. The club is making a new commitment to match resources to expectations, with the goal to elevate the operation and playing conditions. We are looking for a leader who wants to be a part of change.

    Club Highlights

    •         Somerset has a small, seasonal membership, that averages 9,000 rounds per year. The club is closed during the winter months
    •         Newer shop with equipment lift, lift/workstation table, portable reel table, separate grinding room, multiple air compressors throughout heated and cold storage buildings
    •       Looking to purchase new bedknife and reel grinders after filling position
    •        Started a long-term strategic feasibility study of all Turfgrass Buildings with a goal of continual upgrades
    •        Adopted long-range capital investment plan for equipment and infrastructure replacements
    •        Clean, organized, well-lit and ventilated working areas, with a private Equipment Manager’s office connected to shop workspace

    Responsibilities

    •         Work closely with Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant GCSs, to ensure all equipment is properly maintained, safe to operate, and prepared to support daily operations
    •         Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment fleet which includes mowers, tractors, utility vehicles and heavy equipment such as skid loader, woodchipper, truck
    •         Collaborate with staff to schedule maintenance tasks that align with course operations
    •         Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic issues and implement efficient solutions to ensure optimal performance
    •         Perform and oversee cutting unit setup, grinding, and height of cut to exact standards, often checking equipment performing out in the field
    •         Maintain detailed record keeping of preventative and curative maintenance programs
    •         Manage budgeting, oil, lube, fuel and parts inventory
    •         Implement creative solutions in tool and equipment modification, as well as welding fabrications
    •         Integrate equipment fleet management strategies with overall course conditioning objectives

    Experience Requirements

    •         Proven success as an Equipment Manager or Assistant Equipment Manager
    •         Expertise with turf designed equipment platforms
    •         Skilled communicator with ability to lead diverse teams, including training of equipment operation/care

    Special Requirements

    •         Self-motivated and enthusiastic team player accustomed to being in a position of responsibility
    •         Must be organized and able to perform administrative duties associated with position
    •         Works well with others as a team and assist co-workers when needed
    •         Is familiar with and maintains OSHA and other state compliances
    •         Valid driver's license
    •         Flexible work schedule around a few key club tournaments
    •         Exceptional attention to detail and pride in workmanship
    •         Ability to work outdoors, in all weather conditions, to manage equipment fleet operations
    •         Professional approach consistent with Somerset Country Club’s standards and expectations
    •         Ability to move heavy objects, work in tight spaces, and sometimes dirty environments

    Date Job is Available

    •         Flexible but intend to start ~April 1, 2026

    Salary

    •         $36 to $41 per hour
    •         No weekend work or overtime needed on a regular schedule
