Assistant Golf Course Superintendent

Location: Forest Hills Golf Course- La Crosse, WI
Position Type: Full-Time

Forest Hills Golf Course is looking for an entry-level Assistant Golf Course Superintendent who’s eager to learn, work hard, and grow in the golf course maintenance profession. This is a hands-on position for someone who wants real experience, responsibility, and mentorship—not just a title.

You’ll work directly with the Golf Course Superintendent and be involved in day-to-day course maintenance while learning the agronomic, operational, and leadership skills needed to advance in the industry.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Assisting with daily golf course maintenance and course setup
• Learning how to supervise and lead a maintenance crew
• Operating mowing, spraying, and course maintenance equipment
• Helping monitor turf health and course conditions
• Assisting with irrigation operation, troubleshooting, and repairs
• Learning proper chemical and fertilizer application techniques
• Helping maintain equipment, shop organization, and inventories
• Following safety and environmental best practices
• Assisting with tournament preparation and special projects

What We’re Looking For

• 1–3 years of golf course or turf maintenance experience preferred (but not required for the right candidate)
• Turfgrass, agronomy, or related education is a plus, not a must
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
• Good communication skills and a positive attitude
• Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and some holidays
• Valid driver’s license
• Pesticide applicator license or willingness to obtain one
