Equipment Manager — Crystal Lake Golf Club, Lakeville MN

Crystal Lake Golf Club is seeking a skilled, organized Equipment Manager to join our golf course maintenance team. This year‑round position plays a pivotal role in daily operations, agronomic execution, and long‑term course conditioning. The ideal candidate is a driven individual with strong technical skills, a passion for turf excellence, and a proven track record of success. The Equipment Manager will ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all maintenance equipment, vehicles, and related machinery. This role combines hands‑on mechanical work, parts and vendor coordination, and preventative maintenance planning to keep the course operating at peak performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Preventative Maintenance: Plan, schedule, document, and execute preventative maintenance programs for all club‑owned equipment, vehicles, and related assets.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date service, repair, and maintenance records.
• Parts and Vendor Management: Develop and maintain relationships with equipment dealers, parts suppliers, and service providers; coordinate parts purchasing and maintain appropriate inventory levels of critical replacement parts and supplies.
• Cutting Unit Maintenance: Perform and oversee reel and bedknife grinding and set up of cutting units to exact standards; monitor and observe quality of cut in the field daily and make adjustments as needed.
• Diagnostics and Repair: Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues; perform necessary repairs on small and large engines, reel mowers, vehicles, and other equipment.
• Facility Upkeep: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance shop and equipment storage areas.
• Seasonal Support: Assist with winter snow removal and other seasonal tasks as required.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and maintenance staff to prioritize repairs, support peak operations, and ensure equipment safety and reliability.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 1–3 years as a golf course Equipment Manager or in a similar field preferred.
• Technical Skills: Working knowledge of small and large engines (including diesel), reel mowers, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and welding/fabrication.
• Mechanical Aptitude: Strong diagnostic and repair skills for mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Organization: Highly organized, motivated, and able to work in a fast‑paced environment with a sense of urgency when required.
• Availability: Ability to work weekends and overtime as needed.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to perform hands‑on mechanical work, lift and move parts and equipment, and work outdoors in Minnesota weather conditions.
